The last time I spoke to Jason Singer, aka Michigander, the thought of a global pandemic never entered our minds. Now almost two years later, the singer-songwriter from Midland, Mich. is having the biggest year of his young career.
Michigander released his latest EP, Everything Will Be Okay Eventually, back in March. He also announced that he’d be performing at Lollapalooza and Firefly Music Festival, and will embark on his own headlining tour this fall. The trek includes two Michigan dates: October 29 at the Pyramid Scheme in Grand Rapids and November 4 at the Magic Stick in Detroit.
Even with all of that exciting news going on, Singer played an intimate acoustic set at the Rust Belt Market a month ago presented by Audiotree Presents. That is where we had a chance to catch up since he opened for Pete Yorn at the Magic Bag in November 2019.
Listen to the interview below, where we discuss a variety of topics including Michigander’s new EP, his weight loss success, and how the pandemic has affected his life and the people around him.
