Lollapalooza organizers have announced the lineup for this year’s festival — and as with previous years it’s packed with stars across multiple genres.
Pop heavyweights Olivia Rodrigo and Sabrina Carpenter will headline Lolla along with Tyler the Creator, “What It Is (Block Boy)” singer/rapper Doechii, nu metal pioneers Korn, Korean girl group TWICE and more.
Lollapalooza takes place July 31-Aug. 3 at Grant Park in Chicago.
Aside from the headliners, the four-day festival will feature artists spanning a plethora of genres. Alternative favorites include Gigi Perez — who has also crossed over to pop radio with her hit “Sailor Song” — Magdelena Bay, Del Water Gap, Clairo, Wallows and more. I wonder if logistics will allow Clairo and Wallows to team up on stage to perform their 2019 song “Are You Bored Yet?” — same with Tyler the Creator and Doechii on “Balloon.”
Rappers JPEGMAFIA, BossMan Dlow and Xaviersobased will also head to Chicago during Lolla weekend. Movement 2024 performer Dom Dolla, Two Friends and Chicago-based DJ Heather are just some of the electronic artists on the bill who could possibly grace the Perry Stage — named after Lollapalooza founder and Jane’s Addiction frontman (though that might not be the case anymore) Perry Farrell that features all electronic music.
I was stoked to see that Toronto folk band Wild Rivers made the bill. You can check out the trio in a more intimate setting when Ferndale Radio welcomes Wild Rivers April 23 at the Majestic Theatre in Detroit. Tickets are still available at majestictheatre.com and the venue box office — which is basically the Garden Bowl counter.
