Indie rock favorite Snail Mail has released the first single from her upcoming third album Ricochet, which will be released on March 27. Watch the video for the new track below.
“Dead End” gives off ’90s alt rock vibes and that’s intentional. The sharp guitar riffs pair well with Snail Mail’s catchy hooks. There’s even a nice “nah-nah-nah” singalong part at the end that should go over well at live shows. The music video features Snail Mail, real name Lindsey Jordan, jamming out in the woods and fields while lighting off fireworks. Oh, and there’s a dog.
“We shot the video for ‘Dead End’ in random places all around rural North Carolina between the hours of 5pm and 4am on one of the coldest nights of my life,” Jordan said in a press release. “The goal was to be inconspicuous with the fireworks, but someone called the cops on us.”
Ricochet is Snail Mail’s first record in five years. As expected with a new album cycle, the now North Carolina-based musician will hit the road starting April 10 at Turner Hall in Milwaukee. The spring tour will include a stop in Detroit at Majestic Theatre on April 12, nine months after Snail Mail opened for Dinosaur Jr. at the Royal Oak Music Theatre last July.
Tickets go on sale to the general public on Jan. 23 at 10 a.m. ET. Artist and venue presales begin Jan. 21 at 10 a.m. at axs.com.
Support acts include Avalon Emerson & the Charm and Sharp Pins.
