For the past several years, one of my main goals in life has been to write about internationally-renowned superstar Tommy Wiseau. Thanks to Pitchfork, Detroit-based band the Armed and the legend himself, I finally have the opportunity.
As Pitchfork reported today, Tommy is the star of the video for the Armed’s new song, “Role Models.” He wears one of those weird camouflage suits that’s made to look like long grass. He sits next to a reel-to-reel player and some speakers. He moves back and forth. He pumps his fist. He drops one of his famous lines from his masterpiece “The Room” (I won’t spoil the surprise any more than that) shortly after the music stops. He is beamed back to his home planet, but he doesn’t die on the way there. He is triumphant. He is Tommy.
The Armed’s new album, “Only Love,” will be released April 27.
