Flowers of Vietnam’s chef, owner George Azar joins Lick the Plate

This week, Lick the Plate host David Boylan is in Southwest Detroit at the fabulous Flowers of Vietnam with chef/owner George Azar.

His culinary stints at Chicago’s Alinea, Bouchon Bistro in Las Vegas, Rene Redzepi’s Noma in Copenhagen and Noma’s pop up in Tulum, as well as being food and beverage manager at The Waldorf Astoria- New Orleans, have all shaped his culinary style. In 2015, Azar returned home to Detroit to create a synthesis of all his experiences as the executive chef and owner of Flowers of Vietnam, a weekend-only pop-up restaurant launched in a former Coney Island featuring Vietnamese street food and cuisine.

Their conversation ranges from Azar’s illustrious culinary road home to Southwest Detroit, his favorite restaurants, music that moves him and more. Listen to the episode below.
